Personalized Investing Engineering (PIE) develops and operates Schwab’s most innovative products with a primary goal of delighting our clients while empowering them to meet their financial objectives. The Thematic Investing Client Experience team is looking for a talented technical hands-on Software Developer to build internal and external client-facing interactive web components. This position will be focused on contributing to a trading component team in development practices, operational standards, platform evolution and platform resiliency. This role will require a high level of responsibility and accountability, and yet has a support structure vital for development growth while continuing to build and grow our Thematic Investing platforms.
We are looking for a motivated mid-level software engineer with strong skills in JavaScript, Angular, Java, Spring Boot, and test automation. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and refactoring core client services, with a focus on both feature development and testing. The ideal candidate will have experience in end-to-end testing and will play a key role in delivering high-quality software through robust test automation.
What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years professional experience in software engineering
- 3+ years of Java and JavaScript
- 3+ years of test-driven development and quality automation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in JavaScript and Angular, with experience in developing reusable components and services.
- Solid knowledge of Java and Spring Boot for backend development, with an understanding of API design and maintenance. Experience in end-to-end testing frameworks such as WebDriver and Selenium.
- Familiarity with test automation practices and tools.
- Experience in refactoring and maintaining legacy code to improve performance and reliability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Develop, maintain, and refactor core client services using JavaScript(Angular) for frontend and Java(Spring Boot) for backend.
- Implement and optimize end-to-end testing solutions to ensure seamless functionality across systems.
- Build and maintain test automation suites for both frontend and backend components.
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify, refactor, and maintain legacy code to ensure scalability and performance.
- Collaborate with team members to improve the maintainability and reliability of critical client services.
- Troubleshoot and debug applications, addressing issues in both code and infrastructure.
- Follow agile development practices and contribute to continuous process improvement.
